Energy Audits of Fertilizer Production Plants
I R Barton J Hunns

Summary:-

Keywords Energy audit, Energy efficiency, Fertilizer production.

This paper describes a methodology developed by ICI to assess the energy usage in large complex process plants and describes some examples where the technique has been applied to identify the potential for improving the energy efficiency of large ammonia and fertilizer installations. In the examples described, the analysis technique, known as an Energy Audit, identified modification schemes with potential total savings of up to 12% of the overall specific energy consumption. As part of the assessment process these schemes have been classified and prioritised according to ease of implementation and financial return.
