Using Maps and Local Calculation Methods for Spatially Variable Fertilizer Recommendations
M Grandzinski M Vanoverstraeten D Schröder R Finch

Summary:-

Keywords: Precision agriculture, site specific fertilizer, Kemira Loris, fertilizer model, nitrogen, phosphate, potash, mapping.

Through the use of a practical example this paper outlines how it is possible to create site specific fertilizer application maps using available validated fertilizer calculation models and a specially developed software program. This example includes nitrogen (N), phosphate (P2O5) and potash (K2O). The philosophy adopted is that the calculation models used account for the basic biological and chemical processes of soil and crop development and can be used not just for standard practices but also for the more precise applications required by Precision Agriculture.
