Managing Secure Fertiliser Logistics Using a Web-based System
B Meijburg

Summary:-

Keywords: Logistics, Supply chain security, Fertiliser distribution, Internet logistics portal, Business to business communication, Web-based logistics management.

Summary:
Security regulations have led to more administrative requirements in the fertiliser supply chain. To be able to comply with the new demands without limiting efficient operational execution Yara decided to look for a structural transparent and user-friendly tool. Yara chose to use the internet hub from Transwide™, who are specialised in providing connectivity in the logistics sector. The standard Transwide functionalities fulfil the objectives for a secure supply chain. The approach has been discussed with several national and local authorities with positive feedback. Yara wants to promote this type of pragmatic approach in order to deal with security as a voluntary standard in the fertiliser industry in Europe to show to the authorities a professional and pro-active approach to improving security through the full supply chain.
